Relay For Life

It’s that time. Our theme is 80’s and we are wearing our T-shirts that we made last night in order to help raise money to fight cancer. So be ready to have some quality time together while fighting for a good cause on Friday, April 24th, at the Nemo Fairgrounds. Contact Jocelyn for more information.

Photo Scavenger Hunt

This is where everyone breaks into teams and has to fulfill as many photo opportunities as possible from a given list. This is always really fun and usually has you running about town for an hour, or so. This will be next Friday, April 17th @ 6 p.m. We will be out from 6:30pm to 8pm. For those bringing a camera, don’t forget any cords to connect to a computer or SD cards or whatever disk your neat camera likes to use. We try to look at them all after the hunt!

Hay Ride

Yay for Hay!  This is a pretty fun event that is for pretty fun people.  So probably you.  This event has been pushed back to fit schedules so right now the date is tentatively Nov 8th, 2009.  So don’t forget!  Hayride!

Weekend of Oct 24-26th

So the weekend of the 24th-26th there are a few different things we will be doing:

  • 24th-26th, you can go with Lynnea and friends to the Riverside Bible camp where she worked this past summer in Iowa (I believe…).  It sounds like a lot of fun and for more information read the description at the Luho or contact Lynnea at lge5845@truman.edu
  • 25th Saturday.  There will be a district gathering for highschool kids.  You can lead a small group.  I belive this is in the afternoon and is about 45min away.  So if you have to stay in town, this could be for you!  Contact Nate Brack ntb1265@truman.edu
  • 25th You could celebrate Jordan’s mom’s birthday!  Yeah, isn’t that exciting?  Jordan will be having a birthday bash for her.

Trick or Canning

Hey alright, its Halloween let’s go dress up and get candy!! But wait…we’re like…way too old.  Oh well, don’t let that stop you from trick or treating…instead of candy we’ll gather canned goods for local food pantries!  Yeah, that way we can still have fun while being selfless at the same time!  So yeah, this is Halloween, October 31st, 2008.  Meeting time will be announced later.

Freshmore/Junsen Retreat

That’s short for freshmen/sophmore and Junior/senior if you didn’t get it.  anyway, freshmen and other: This is an event you REALLY should go to.  It’s a great time to meet and bond with other freshmen and lsfers.  There always seems to be some kind of mysterious experience involved.  So sign-up sheets are at the house only until Tuesday Oct, 14th!  This is an overnight event, and it is Friday 17th to Saturday 18th of October starting at 5:30p.m..  So check out the sign-up sheets at the house and hurry and sign up.

Capture The Spoons

That’s right folks! It’s that time again. Next Friday, September 12, 2008, come to the house at 7:30 for an awesome night of games! These are the best of games, for these are games such as Spoons, Ultimate Spoons, and Capture the Flag/Beethoven. This is a really awesome event, so make sure you check it out!

Recess

On Reading Day Eve, the national holiday, we will be meeting at the house at 7pm to go to a True Men show at Baldwin until 9pm. Then we will be having outdoor recess at Red Barn Park from 9:30 to 10:30! Our rainsite is Pershing Small Gym, but this will be a good time to just wind down during finals and relive the excitement that was elementary school! Afterwards, we will replenish our carbs by eating all the pancakes at the BSU Pancake Dinner!

Year-end Review

On Sunday, May 4th, right after Sunday Dinner around 6:15ish, we will be taking a group photo of LSF. So try to be there. Then after that, we will be having a very informal meeting in which you can and should voice any and all comments regarding LSF. Things you liked/disliked, what we should change for next year, ideas of new things to do next year, what we should keep next year, etc. are some of the things we will be going over. This is another important event that as many people as possible should come to so that we know what we need to do for next year.We will also be picking our theme for next year.
This year our verse was:

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand.
Romans 5:1- 2a

So if you have any recommendations please bring them. Here is a sample of some of the ideas currently on the board, some with themes, some without:

Romans 8:38-39 Inseparable
Romans 1:16-17 Unashamed
Ephesians 4:4-6 One
Philippians 5:20
Matthew 5:14-16
1 John 3:16
Ephesians 5:1-2
Hebrews 12:2-3

So you can check those out if you want and be ready to pick out our verse at the forum.

Affirmations

Once again, we are still doing affirmations from Spring Break, so whenever you have time in the middle of your busy schedule, just jot down a few affirmation notes, it’s not that hard.

Te Deum

The final Te Deum of the semester will be this Tuesday, the 22nd, at 8pm at the House!  Amanda will be speaking on the LSF theme verse, Romans 5:1-2, so it’ll provide closure for the year.  Also, be sure to watch out for Hanna who’s giving the first Te Deum speech of next year!

Lifefest/Camping

Lifefest, a fundraiser and BBQ by Newman for Lifeline Pregnancy Center, is this Saturday, the 26th, from 1-5pm on the Quad!  LSF will be having a duck pond with candy for prizes, and if you want to help out with the booth throughout the day, sign up at the House.  Also, if you have any rubber duckies for the pond, e-mail Beth at bdfalkner@gmail.com.  And Te Deum will play around 4 or 4:30pm, so be there for that as it will be our last performance anywhere the entire semester.
Later on, beginning around 6pm, we will be going to 1000 Hills to hang out and have a bonfire cookout!  Be at the House around 5:40 , or whenever we’re done at Lifefest so we can head out to 1000 Hills.  Unfortunately, we will not be camping but we will roast hot dogs, do a Bible study and have fun!

Karaoke & Fiesta

On Friday, May 2nd, around 7pm, we will have Karaoke and a Fiesta at the House!  It will be awesome and we will finally learn who is tone-deaf.

LCMS World Mission

World Mission has a lot of things they need help with during the summer that you can help out with!  Just check out their website at mission.lcms.org.

Sunday Dinners

We are still looking for people who want to cook Sunday Dinners. It’s not that hard and it’s real fun to do and there will be plenty of help around if you need it. Everyone should cook sometime this semester. Cooking is a great way to serve, and we’re all about serving!
